Sorry, you're correct, I forgot we recently modified our detection code. We are planning to support vertical spanning, as well as horizontal spanning (like we do now). This means that we look more at the resolution than the aspect ratio. Your first example is 3 monitors because it has a huge width, but the second one is barely wide enough for 2 monitors at 1920x1080 so we consider it more ideal for dual-monitors. When you submit an image, you should be submitting it here:
https://www.wallpaperfusion.com/Submit/

That way it can be approved by an admin, processed for all different resolutions and shared with everyone.

Thanks for the help! It really helped! But only a few doubts remain:

Quote:

1. We use a combination of image size and aspect ratio. If you upload a massive square image (like 10k x 10k) we would consider that a single-monitor image, because it's been designed with a single monitor in mind. If the image was 20k x 10k we might call that a 2x monitor image because it was designed to be double-width.

Initially, even I though that the aspect ratio might be the criteria . But after I saw the aspect ratios of these two images
1) http://www.wallpaperfusion.com/Image/burj-al-caliph-sand-storm/19804/
2) http://www.wallpaperfusion.com/Image/space-trip/18220/

I got a bit confused . It seems that 1) is more suitable to be single-monitor image whereas 2) is more suitable to be a triple monitor image. How does that work out then?

2. How do I download and upload an image from a multiple monitor set up? Currently, I have two monitors connected each having a different resolution (1366 x 768 and 800 x 600) How do I download and upload an image in that case?

3. And if a user uploads an image of a particular resolution, then how does the forum offer the ability to download different resolutions of the same image? Do we have to upload multiple resolutions of the same photograph (and classify one as the primary)?

Thanks in adavance!

Let me see if I can help you out with your questions:

1. We use a combination of image size and aspect ratio. If you upload a massive square image (like 10k x 10k) we would consider that a single-monitor image, because it's been designed with a single monitor in mind. If the image was 20k x 10k we might call that a 2x monitor image because it was designed to be double-width.

2. The website gets the size of your primary monitor using Javascript, so it's only a best-guess. You can always select your correct resolution when downloading an image if it's not right.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am actually new to this forum (and photography in general) and I am unaware with the process of uploading a wallpaper on the forum. I have a few queries in this regards:

1) How does the forum decide the number of monitors for which a wallpaper can be used? Do the users mention it or is it determined in some other way?

2) How does the forum know the resolution of the "monitor" used by the client (not that of the "browser")?
